SWEARING IN CEREMONY TO BE HELD
NEWARK, OH (February 12, 2015) – Newark Mayor Jeff Hall announced today there will be a swearing in ceremony for the newly appointed Assistant Fire Chief for the Newark Division of Fire, Nick Simmons. The ceremony will take place Tuesday, February 17th, 2015, at 6:30pm in Council Chambers of City Hall.
Nick graduated from Denison University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He enrolled in the Masters of Arts Program at Xavier in 1995. Nick started his career with the Newark Fire Department in 1996. He is a certified FFII and Paramedic. In 2005, he was promoted to Lieutenant, and in 2007, was promoted to Captain. Nick resides in Granville with his wife Stephanie and their two daughter’s Natalie and Sydney.

NEWARK, OH (February 27, 2015) – Newark Mayor Jeff Hall announced today there will be a Division of Police Officer swearing in ceremony for Bill Evans this Monday, March 2, 2015, starting at 6:00pm in Council Chambers of City Hall. Immediately following at 6:30pm, there will be a promotional ceremony for Division of Fire Lieutenant Terry Lynn.
Bill Evans, born and raised in Newark, is a 1999 graduate of Newark High School. Bill completed his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Central Ohio Technical College in June of 2010. He graduated at the top of his Basic Police Academy class for physical fitness and was selected to be one of two sergeants. Bill resides in Newark with his wife Morgan and their two children Parker and Madison.
Division of Fire Lieutenant Terry Lynn will be promoted to Captain. Terry started his career with the Newark Fire Department in 1999. He holds an associate’s degree in Fire Science and is currently working towards his bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern. He is a state certified FFII and Paramedic, Fire Instructor and a Hazardous Materials Technician. He currently teaches at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2013. Terry resides in Canal Winchester with his wife Heather and their four children Alexis, Tristan, Chloe and Aubrey.
