Newark Firefighters Auction Dinner for Red Cross

Firefighter/Paramedic Murphy, Probationary Firefigher/Paramedic McDonald, Captain Bolte and Assistant Chief Simmons attended the American Red Cross “Power of the Purse” auction this evening.  Power of the Purse is an annual auction which benefits the America Red Cross.  Newark Fire Department was approached last year about donating a dinner for 8 cooked in the firehouse, by off duty firefighters.  The idea was a success, to say the least, raising $1600 dollars in 2014.  This year the bidding was contested enough that two dinners were awarded for a grand total of $2500.  The winners will have their choice of 3 cuisines, all of which are at least 5 courses; Italian, Barbeque or Holiday Dinner.  Congratulations to the winners and to the American Red Cross.
